Live! One Night Only! The Seb Lee-Delisle Experience. Wednesday April 2nd.

That's right, Seb is back. Usually Seb dazzles us with 3D and scripted graphics and as a member of the PaperVision3D team, I'm sure he has some great stuff to share. But this time, Seb is in town to set us up with Arduino. What is Arduino?

Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.

But what does that mean? It means we are going to put Heathkit to shame and hook up Flash with our own hardware! From Sebs blog:

Special thanks to Seb for taking the time to visit with us. Read more below for a list of resources and a list of core components you'll need to get started with Arduino. .
If you want to just get an arduino up and running with your computer, and do the equivalent of "hello world" you need :

Arduino Diecimila
1 LED (I will bring some spares though)
1 USB cable

If you want to play with a few LEDs you will need :

6 LEDs
6 resistors (about 1K - marked brown-black-orange)

if you want to get arduino talking to flash you will need :

one or more potentiometers (variable resistors) 10K rating

Other stuff that could be fun :

LED arrays (i will bring one to show you)
Tilt switchs
Light dependent resistors

Rich Hauck has confirmed that the NYU store near where we meet has everything we need. So you might want to shop locally. There is a rumor that Seb will be on hand before the meeting for a quick shopping trip.
